According to a report from Variety, Fox’s Tubi will serve as the streaming home for the film titled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial. The “fast-tracked” project follows the tumultuous relationship between Heard and Depp which leads to the much-talked-about defamation trial which received its verdict on June 1st. The Daily Show writer Guy Nicolucci penned the script with Grace and Frankie writer Sara Lohman directing the project. As for the film’s cast, Parallels actor Mark Hapka and Megan Davis of Alone in the Dark fame will portray Johnny and Amber respectively.It’s unclear whether or not Depp and Heard were made aware of the controversial project but when Entertainment Weekly tried reaching out to their respective representatives, the two actors didn’t make comments about the film.Also Read: Amber Heard’s Agent Says DC Star Should’ve Been a Bigger Deal After AquamanThe motive behind the creation of “Hot Take” remains unclear but it’s safe to assume that it’s a blatant cash-grab on Tubi’s part to capitalize on the defamation trial’s aftermath.
