Amber Midthunder, known for her breakout success in Predator’s prequel, Prey, is set to star as Princess Yue. To recap, Yue ended up with a tragic fate. Though she and Sokka (Katara’s brother) had a short, lovely romance together, Princess Yue of the Northern Water Tribe had to rise to protect her kingdom first. Seeing as Midthunder has been a longtime fan of the show, her performance is highly expected to do justice with the character in the live-action.
Speaking with Empire, she reacts to her news of being cast as Princess Yue, expressing her excitement and appreciation of being cast in the show and character she loved:
Seeing as Netflix’s live-action announcement included that it would be a ‘reimagined’ live-action remake of the animated series, the plot is also expected to follow the same adventures with little to no details changed. And if it so happens that no details will change, that means Midthunder’s character would only be shown for a few episodes to serve in moving the plot forward with her romance with Sokka (13 Reasons Why’s Ian Ousley) and will soon end her appearance by sacrificing her life to become the Moon Spirit.
Netflix hasn’t announced an official release date for the series, but it is highly likely that the first season will premiere sometime in 2023. Stay tuned for more updates on this story. Also Read: Avatar: The Last Airbender Live-Action Series Reportedly Casts Jet
