READ MORE: Ant-Man 3 Producer Claims Movie Is Central To The Future of the MCU
According to the source, “a character from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will show up in Ant-Man 3, but is recast from the TV show,” which could easily pertain to Katy O’Brian, seeing as she was one of the only confirmed actors to join in the threequel. Though the MCU films and series have a particular connection to one another, it seems more likely now that O’Brian will not be reprising her role as Kimball, but rather make her appearance in a different role. Possibly as a variant.
Previously, Ant-Man 3 producer Stephen Broussard reiterated how much they wanted to prevent the threequel from becoming MCU’s ‘palate cleanser.’ Instead, they are aiming for the film to be central to the future of the MCU, and become as huge as an Avengers movie, as director Peyton Reed said.
While there are no official announcements yet on what role exactly Katy O’Brian will be playing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it is great to hear that she will not be reprising her role. Seeing as Ant-Man 3 is also being set up as Kang the Conqueror’s stage in taking over the MCU, the history behind O’Brian’s ties with time travel would be too big of a plot item to bring into the film that already has the potential of being as huge of an impact as the Avengers films.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is currently slated for release in theaters on February 17, 2023. You can check out more details about it here.
