Arknights: Prelude to Dawn is an action and fantasy anime based on a Chinese free-to-play, tactical RPG known in English as Tomorrow’s Ark. It falls under the “tower defense” game subgenre wherein the player tries to protect their territory or belongings by obstructing their opponent’s access. The game and adaptation are ideal for fans of dystopian anime as well, as it is set in a post-apocalyptic future on the planet Terra. Natural disasters leave in their wake a mineral that caused the spread of oripathy, a deadly disease. In the game, players assume the role of an amnesiac and masked character who commands a team of operators of Rhodes Island – a medical and self-defense organization. The anime also focuses on Rhodes Island and the organization’s attempt to save humanity from oripathy, especially as sufferers are being persecuted.
Here’s What Happened in Arknights: Prelude to Dawn Episode 2
In Episode 2, it’s reported that the protests have stopped, though, in truth, the government is quickly losing control of the city. Crownslayer abducts and questions the Doctor but she’s confronted by Mephisto, another Reunion captain who forces her to back down. Mephisto attempts to capture the Doctor himself but forces led by Nearl come to the rescue even as Faust, a sniper working with Mephisto, tries to attack them. While hiding in a secret clinic, Amiya explains to the Doctor that Originium, the mineral in question, is the source of the Arts, their world’s magic as well as a valuable power source that modernized their world. Those infected by oripathy use Arts by manipulating the Originium inside their body without an Originium source. However, this makes the disease spread much faster and shortens the afflicted people’s lifespan. Rhodes Island then go to their meeting point but they are attacked by the leader of Reunion, Tallulah.
