There is little doubt that the rest of the cast will play larger roles in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and it’s a good thing despite being a result of a major tragedy. Ryan Coogler explained to Total Film everyone in the sequel is dealing with loss in their own way. “The main characters, their identities were wrapped up in this man. It’s the truth of it,” Coogler said. “Shuri, every day she was alive, she had her brother. So when she loses him, what we discovered while we were working on the script, and eventually bringing it to life with the actors, was that she really lost her sense of self.”
“She identified herself as this guy’s little sister,” he continued. “As his protector, as the person who looks out for him. When she loses that, it makes her very unmoored.” Coogler certainly has that right about Shuri who has been so used to being the little sister. However, the tragedy is set to push the princess to take on more responsibilities in her country. It’s sad to know that Shuri feels lost after losing her brother. On the other hand, we can’t wait to see how she rises up amidst the tragedy in Black Panther 2. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will pay tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman who passed away in 2020 and the film will follow the leaders of Wakanda as they deal with the death of their King T’Challa. The movie will bring back Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett. It will also introduce Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, and Tenoch Huerta into the MCU. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
