Busan Hopes BTS Concert Will Be a Strong Pull
The Korea Times reported that Busan Mayor Park Heong Joon met with other city officials on Tuesday ahead of the BTS concert at Busan Asiad Main Stadium. “Some 100,000 people are expected to flock to Busan around the day of the concert. After pulling off this large-scale event through water-tight preparation, I want the whole world to know that Busan can successfully pull off Expo 2030 as well,” the mayor said. The meeting, which was held at Busan city hall, was attended by representatives from Busan police, tourism groups and organizations, and HYBE. Meanwhile, 200 city workers were assigned to Busan Port and Haeundae Beach to control the traffic and visitors. Interpreters, organizers, and more workers will complete the job to ensure a smooth-flowing event. The city government also made a four-page newspaper, Dynamic Busan, which includes information about Busan’s tourism and BTS’ history. Forty thousand copies were printed in English, while 10,000 were in Japanese. Fans can access it online through the city government’s website at the book.busan.go.kr.

Aside from Busan, the candidates to host the 2030 expo include Riyadh, Rome, Odessa, and Moscow. “In the future, Busan seeks to become an eco-friendly, smart city that harnesses Korea’s advanced digital technologies. Busan’s openness, diversity, and inclusivity make it the ideal host for the 2030 World Expo. If the bid succeeds, the Expo will take place in the city of Busan between May and October 2030,” the post on The Korea Society website reads.
