When is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners coming to Netflix?
Update: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is now available to stream on Netflix. During Geeked Week 2022 virtual event on June 8, Netflix announced that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be released in September 2022. On Aug. 17, the anime’s official website announced its release date: Sept. 13, 2022.
What will Cyberpunk: Edgerunners be about?
Netflix confirmed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be set in the same futuristic world as the videogame, the dystopian Night City. The show’s official synopsis confirms that the 10-episode standalone series will tell the story of: Since this is about a kid, it’s likely that there will be less sexual content in the Netflix series compared to the videogame. The story will likely not stray too far from its source material, but expect the series to find different ways CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger can use the dystopian setting to tell a new compelling story. Netflix hasn’t provided any additional details about the plot of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, but we will update this article once we get the latest scoop. It looks like the protagonist of Edgerunners was referenced in the Cyberpunk 2077 game two years ago. As pointed out by @Vesn4_ on Twitter, a drink called The David Martinez is available to purchase from the Afterlife bar in Night City. While taht doesn’t sound exciting, fans of the RPG will know that only legendary figures in the world of Cyberpunk get drinks named after them at Afterlife.
The trailer for Edgerunners revealed that Martinez is a street kid from Santo Domingo that turns personal tragedy into an opportunity to get inside the world of edgerunners. The description of the drink also alludes to this storyline, as it talks about making an impact and aiming high.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime spin-off collaboration co-produced by Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger, the Japanese studio well known for their series such as Kill la Kill, Inferno Cop, Little Witch Academia, and more. Studio Trigger’s Hiroyuki Imaishi is set to direct Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, while Yoh Yoshinari will be in charge of character design.
