Chainsaw Man is a bloodthirsty anime full of guts and gore. Given the amount of violence, dismemberment, and brutality displayed by both the Devils and the hunters, it is not for the faint of heart. Thus, cannibalism is no longer a surprising plot point in the series. Warning: Chainsaw Man manga spoilers ahead!
Did Denji Kill Makima in Chainsaw Man?
In Chainsaw Man, Denji does indeed kill Makima. He killed her as Denji, and not the Chainsaw Devil, whom Makima most admired. Thus, Denji did not only kill her, but he also destroyed her dream. Makima worships the Chainsaw Devil the most because of its unique ability to erase Devils from the world indefinitely, along with the fear they represent, and with no remorse. She sees the Chainsaw Devil differently because he can help her in ushering in a new era of a world free of unnecessary fear, pain, diseases, suffering, and hunger that have caused chaos in previous generations. Makima admires the Chainsaw Devil, but she becomes obsessed with gaining its power, antagonizing everyone who trusted her, including Aki, Denji, and Power. She used her devil power to control and manipulate many people in order to have the Chainsaw Devil, even if it meant killing them in the process. Unfortunately, Denji gets one step ahead of her by betting on his chances of killing her in a simple yet elaborate plan. ALSO READ: Does Denji Ever Touch Boobs in Chainsaw Man?
Did Denji Eat Makima in Chainsaw Man?
Yes, Denji ate Makima in an attempt to prevent her from reincarnating in the world. While Kishibe thought it was a stupid idea, Denji believed that it will work even if Makima comes out of his body alive or in his toilet. Denji tore Pochita from his body during the final confrontation with Makima, forcing him to fight Makima’s Weapon Hybrids as the Chainsaw Devil. Makima eventually defeated Pochita and thought she had finally accomplished her goal of changing the world. However, Denji was just waiting for his chance to strike Makima when she lowered her guard the most. True enough, Denji managed to injure her badly with the chainsaw made from Power’s blood. As Denji expected, Makima only sees the Chainsaw Devil, making his final bet successful. However, if that was not the case, Denji would have been dead instead. Denji eventually cannibalized Makima and prepared her body parts as meat and vegetable stir fry, meat dango, meat dumplings, meat smoothie, meat curry, nuggets, sushi, intestine stew, and even hamburger! Did Makima Return in Chainsaw Man?
As of writing, Makima has not returned to Chainsaw Man. Instead, the Control Devil reemerges in the body of Nayuta, the young girl Kishibe discovered in China after Makima died. Nayuta’s demeanor is similar to Makima’s, including her habit of biting someone’s fingers, which alarmed Denji. However, Kishibe assured Denji that Nayuta is not Makima because none of her remains, not even her memories, are in the girl. Kishibe directed Denji to look after Nayuta because the government could force her to become Makima again, which would be disastrous. Denji and Nayuta began living together in Aki’s apartment, along with Makima’s horde of pet dogs from then on.
