Interestingly, Emma D’Arcy is aware of how their casting is also changing things for the franchise. As a nonbinary actor playing the lead role in House of the Dragon, D’Arcy agrees that their casting is opening gender awareness discussions around the world. Emma D’Arcy is a nonbinary actor who goes by they/them pronouns. They recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly where D’Arcy addressed how non-binary visibility got a huge leap because of their casting in House of the Dragon.
D’Arcy pointed out that they wish to remain private if possible. However, they are open to fame if it could open gender awareness discussions. “I probably have a complicated relationship, I’m sure as most people do, with having a public profile, but I suppose being able to help the broad spectrum of gender identities sounds like a good reason to have one,” D’Arcy said. “So I feel very lucky to just continue what for me is a very exciting plane of discussion — and nice to be able to do that both to an extent onscreen and separately offscreen.” For now, we only got to see D’Arcy in five episodes of House of the Dragon. However, there is little doubt that they will play an even bigger role in the show’s second season. With that in mind, we can’t wait for House of the Dragon Season 2. The second season of House of the Dragon has not yet been given an official release date but the series is already set to return sometime in 2024. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
