The finale of the eight-episode season premiered on February 28, 2022, but HBO officially confirmed Euphoria Season 3 in advance a few weeks ahead of that. On February 4, 2022, the official social media accounts of Euphoria shared a short clip to announce that Season 2 wouldn’t be the end for Ru, Jules, Cassie, Maddy, Nate, and the rest of the characters of the award-winning teen drama TV series.
In an official statement, Francesca Orsi, Vice President of HBO programming, said, “Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken season two to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. “We couldn’t be more honoured to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season three.” Unfortunately, one popular cast member won’t be reprising her role for Season 3, but more on that below. Here’s everything you need to know about Euphoria Season 3, including a release date speculation, potential spoilers, cast, and more updates. Note that we will update this page with the latest information once HBO Max officially reveals them.
Euphoria Season 3 Release Date Speculation
HBO hasn’t officially announced the release date for Euphoria Season 3, but it’s likely that it be released sometime in 2023 or 2024. It’s worth noting that the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the release of Euphoria Season 2, so if things run smoothly in the upcoming months, we could see Season 3 arrive as early as 2023. In February 2022, Zendaya said on her Instagram that it’s going to be a while.
What will happen in Euphoria Season 3?
After the bittersweet Season 2 finale, Euphoria leaves us with so many questions. A lot of major things happened in the finale, and just in case you forgot, here’s a quick recap: Cassie and Maddy had a huge fight during Lexi’s hilarious play at school; Nate calls the cops on his father, Cal, and reveals he has a USB drive of all the footage from his father’s sexual encounters; Rue appears to have forgiven Jules for telling her mother about her drug addition problem. And there’s Fez (Angus Cloud), who was arrested at the Season 2 finale after being accidentally shot by Ashtray, and he clearly survives, so he expect him to return in Season 3. Unfortunately, Ashtray died at the finale of Season 2 after shooting at the police, as Fez tries to take the blame for his crime. During an October 2022 interview with E! News, Cloud talked about what he thinks viewers can hope to see from Euphoria Season 3. “I can’t wait to get back to work with everyone,” he said. “I feel like it’s been way too long. I just can’t wait to see everyone and working on set again. Definitely not sure what to expect for Fezco, but knowing Sam [Levinson], it will be good.”
Euphoria Season 3 Cast: Who’s returning and who are the newcomers?
Zendaya is expected to reprise her role as Rue Bennett alongside other Euphoria regulars like Hunter Schafer (Jules), Alexa Demie (Maddy), Sydney Sweeney (Cassie), Jacob Elordi (Nate), Algee Smith (Chris), Angus Cloud (Fez), Maude Apatow (Lexi) and Dominic Fike (Elliot). However, Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat in the show, announced on August 24, 2022 that she wouldn’t be returning to Euphoria for Season 3. Taking to her Instagram story, Ferreira shared a message accompanied by fan art of her character made by her co-star Schafer. She wrote: After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye [sic].”
She continued: “I hope many of you could see yourself in her like i did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and i hope you guys could feel it. Love you katherine hernandez [sic].” It’s unclear whether Ferreira’s character will be written off the series or if a new actor will fill her shoes for the third season. HBO hasn’t announced any new cast members for Euphoria Season 3 yet, but expect the show to introduce new characters.
Did HBO already release a trailer for Euphoria Season 3?
There are still no trailers for Euphoria Season 3, and don’t expect to see the first one for quite some time. If the third season comes out in 2023, it’s likely that we won’t be seeing a trailer until early or mid 2023, but since there have been no production updates in recent weeks, there’s a chance that fans will have to wait a little longer.
