George R.R. Martin recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the author discusses a few key differences between the novel’s description of the Iron Throne versus the Iron Throne we have come to know today. He even continues to say that House of the Dragon’s version of the Iron Throne is closer to his vision. Yet another reason why the author wants to stay ahead of the series. Read his comment below:
House of the Dragon showrunners actually admitted they were given more creative freedom in the Game of Thrones prequel, where they changed and adjusted a few things to fit not only the show and its characters, but in keeping up with modern times. It is no surprise they were also able to take time in depicting the throne more faithfully to Martin’s vision in the books.
