House of the Dragon already gave us a few notable deaths in its first four episodes although the latest one didn’t have any casualties. However, the preview for Episode 5 is decidedly ominous despite promising a glamorous royal wedding. The House of the Dragon Episode 5 preview features King Viserys I Targaryen arranging a marriage for Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon in an effort to unite their Houses. Despite the wedding that is being shown, it is clear that the major players have other things to worry about.
At one point, Rhaenys Velaryon worries about Rhaenyra’s succession being challenged. In a different scene, we see a sickly Viserys as Otto Hightower declares that the king is going to die. The former Hand of the King then states that they cannot let Rhaenyra take over the Iron Throne and orders Alicent Hightower to prepare her son Aegon II to rule. It’s still too early to expect King Viserys to die but House of the Dragon has been speeding things up and changing the timeline so that it’s different from the book. With that in mind, there’s a huge chance that the king will meet his end a little early in the show. House of the Dragon Episode 4 is now available on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 5 is titled We Light the Way and will premiere on HBO on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
