In House of the Dragon Episode 5, Daemon Targaryen returns to the Vale where he comes across his wife Lady Rhea Royce who is out on a hunt. Rhea deduces that Daemon has come to get rid of her and she is right as he quickly moves in for the kill. Elsewhere, King Viserys I Targaryen makes the journey to Driftmark to propose the marriage between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon. Rhaenyra discusses an arrangement with Laenor so they could both pursue their own interests, and Ser Criston Cole later proposes he and Rhaenyra elope. The princess turns him down and when the guilt-ridden Criston confesses to having sex with Rhaenyra when Alicent confronts him.
As the celebrations for the royal wedding begin, Daemon returns to King’s Landing where he is immediately confronted by the Royces for the alleged murder but he points out that it was an accident and that he is now set to inherit Runestone. Meanwhile, Laenor’s lover Ser Joffrey Lonmouth deduces that Rhaenyra’s lover is Ser Criston and tries to get the knight in on the arrangement. However, this backfires as Criston attacks Joffrey, causing mayhem during the celebration. Through it all, the king’s health deteriorates, forcing Rhaenyra and Laenor to go through the wedding immediately. House of the Dragon Episode 5 is now streaming on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 6 is titled The Princess and The Queen and will premiere on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
