The episode kicks off with the birth of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s third son who is immediately summoned by the queen. This leads to that dreadfully painful clip where Rhaenyra and Ser Laenor Velaryon make their way to meet the queen, who then points out that the infant does not look like the princess’s husband. Naturally, it’s a power play but Alicent has another reason for demanding to see the baby. Rhaenyra’s older sons have both been born with brown hair and everyone suspects that they are the children of Ser Harwin Strong, the Commander of the City Watch.
Indeed, Harwin harbors a fatherly love for the princes, to the point of defending them when a friendly spar with the king’s sons turns dangerous. Unfortunately, this leads to a fight between Harwin and Ser Criston Cole, perhaps one that was carefully planned to confirm the boys’ paternity. House of the Dragon Episode 6 pretty much confirms that Alicent Hightower is determined to prepare her son Aegon II Targaryen as the new heir. Most of the power moves are made by her but the final one in The Princess and The Queen was a clever and cruel play by Larys Strong, who appears to be playing the game of thrones as well. The latest episode of House of the Dragon is now available on HBO Max. House of the Dragon Episode 7 is titled Driftmark and is set to premiere on HBO on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
