If you’ve caught up on Tite Kubo’s manga series, you already know what will happen to Yhwach in the final moments of Thousand-Year Blood War, but if you haven’t but you want to know before they reveal the villain’s fate in the anime series, we have the details below, but we warn you that there are major spoilers ahead. There’s also a chance that the anime could alter the storyline of the manga, but most likely, it will stay true to its source material.
Who beats Yhwach in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War?
Ichigo Kurosaki, the protagonist of Bleach, is the Shinigami who ultimately kills Yhwach in Chapter 683 of the Bleach manga series by TIte Kubo.
How is Yhwach defeated in Bleach: TYBW?
In the final battle, as Yhwach prepares to finish Ichigo and Soul Society with his Reiatsu, he suddenly notices his hand stuck in Aizen’s torso as Aizen tells him that Ywach saw him as Ichigo. Suddenly, the real Ichigo impales Yhwach from behind with Tensa Zangetsu before unleashing a Getsuga Tenshō that slices Yhwach in half.
Is Yhwach still alive in the end of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War?
Well… yes and no. Yhwach is an undead corpse, but he’s not completely dead. As revealed in Bleach Chapter 686: Ten years after his defeat, Yhwach tries to use The Almighty to destroy the future by infiltrating it with his Reiatsu, but due to Ichigo killing him ten years prior the Reiatsu vanishes altogether. The previous Soul King was sealed in a state between life and death, so it would make sense if Yhwach was in a similar state. However, they actively refer to his body as a corpse, so it’s hard to tell for sure if Yhwach is dead or alive.
