The premise of the show is that the two high school girls work together to take down the bullies of the other person: Drea’s (played by Camila Mendes) boyfriend who leaked her sex tape and Eleanor (Maya Hawke)’s bully who started a rumor about her. The movie is reminiscent of 90s high school hits like 10 Things I Hate About You, Jawbreaker, and Cruel Intentions; which director and writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is a fan of. As she thought of Do Revenge as her next project in 2019, Robinson approached producer Peter Cron and decided on making the film Hitchcockian. And almost three years later, Do Revenge is finally getting a release date. Here’s what we know about this film so far:
When Is Do Revenge Release Date on Netflix?
While Do Revenge was created in 2019, it wasn’t until October 14, 2020 that plans for the film officially started. At that time, the movie had a working title of Strangers. Robinson started working on the script, which was heavily inspired by the 1951 thriller, Strangers on a Train. A month later, it was announced that Mendes and Hawke were cast as the show’s protagonists. The rest of the cast members were then announced in early 2021. The project then wrapped filming in August 2021. So when will Do Revenge be released on Netflix? The good news is that you don’t have to wait too long. The film will be available on Netflix on Friday, September 16, 2022. It has a total runtime of 118 minutes.
Do Revenge Story: What Is It About?
The official synopsis on Netflix reads: “After a clandestine meet-cute, Drea (Alpha, fallen it girl) and Eleanor (beta, new alt girl) team up to go after each other’s tormentors. Do Revenge is a subverted Hitchcock-ian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls.” In an interview with Elle, Robinson shared: “I think there are different points where everyone’s the villain and everyone’s the hero in this story. And that is so much of what growing up is. I wanted to make something that paints with all the colors of adolescence.” As mentioned, this movie is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train. Do Revenge’s story follows the same storyline where strangers meet and exchange plans to take care of each other’s bullies. But with this dark comedy, Robinson says there are unexpected twists and turns.

Yes! With the release date nearing, Netflix has posted the Do Revenge trailer online last August 9.
