On Sept. 25, 2021, during the Tudum global fan event and just days after Season 3 aired on Netflix, the streaming giant announced that Sex Education Season 4 is coming. The news was confirmed in a teaser showing the Moordale High crest appearing on the screen in front of a photo of the school before a breaking news bulletin appears, announcing that Season 4 is on its way.
After all, Sex Education is approaching its end, and in January 2022, actress Aimee Lou Wood, who plays Aimee Gibbs in the Netflix series, teased the end of the show. “It’s going to have to come to an end, which is sad, but also I feel like you should always leave them wanting more,” she told Variety. “Always end on a high instead of having people go, ‘I really wish they would stop.’”
Is Sex Education Season 4 coming in November 2022?
Unfortunately, no, Netflix is not releasing Sex Education Season 4 in October 2022. Netflix already released its list of movies and TV shows coming to its streaming service in November 2022, and as expected, Sex Education Season 4 is not included in the list.
When is Sex Education Season 4 coming to Netflix?
Initially, we expected the fourth season of Sex Education would be released sometime in 2022, but after finding out that Season 4 isn’t slated to begin production until this spring and last all the way until November 2022, it’s likely that the new episodes won’t be released until 2023. It’s highly-unlikely that the fourth season will be released by the end of 2022 with this production schedule, because the show will still have to go through post-production before Netflix can officially release it.
Right now, it looks like a Spring 2023 release date is more plausible for Sex Education Season 4. While the production for Season 3 was delayed for a few months due to COVID-19 pandemic, it looks like the delay for Season 4’s production is not related to COVID, but because the show was still casting for new characters and other undisclosed reasons.
However, a recent update reveals that Sex Education Season 4 will start filming in July 4, 2022.
Who’s not returning for Sex Education Season 4?
According to reports, Simone Ashley, Patricia Allison, and Tanya Reynolds will not be returning for the fourth season of Sex Education. Patricia Allison, who plays Ola in the dramedy, revealed that she will not be returning for Season 4. “I absolutely have loved being on Sex Education so, so much … but unfortunately, I won’t be joining the team for Season 4,” the 27-year-old actress said during a Tuesday, July 5, episode of the U.K. radio show, Breakfast With Yinka and Shayna Marie. “Some other opportunities have come up. I’ve been doing it for three years, and I’ve genuinely loved it.”
