Is Steve Rogers Alive in the Hydra Stomper in Marvel’s What If..? Finale
Just after the multiverse has been saved by the Guardians of the Multiverse, Captain Carter and the rest of the team comes back to the moment when they were taken and she was with Natasha on the ship facing Batroc. The pirates were after something that would make Peggy surprised – the Hydra Stomper is in the ship and Black Widow tells Peggy that someone is inside. Presumably, it is Steve inside since it was him who used the machine for himself in order to fight side by side with Peggy. Stark made the Hydra Stomper and it is powered by the tesseract which means it could still work since the power source is an Infinity Stone. But given that he did not have the serum, he would age like a normal person which would bring him somewhen in his 90s. Still, it is possible he might’ve been under kyrogenesis like the one Bucky had to undergo in the original timeline. It is not the first time Marvel had to take someone from the past who all thought would have died or already died and back to life like it is something normal to resurrect a character from the dead. Bucky is proof of this. If it could happen to him, it could happen to anyone, right? The worse news could be that someone else is inside the Hydra Stomper. Since Natasha only told Peggy that someone is inside, anything or anyone is possible. The thought of having Steve being alive would definitely mean something to Peggy, after all, they have missed a dance. Who knows? Maybe an episode in the second season of What If..? would be his story. All episodes of Marvel’s What If…? Season 1 are available to stream on Disney+.
