Recently, a new report from Geekosity claimed that Cavill’s new deal with DC includes appearances on TV projects even though it was already reported days prior by TheWrap that the actor has not signed a new deal yet for his return as Superman after his Black Adam appearance. Moments later, DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn debunked the report on Twitter and iterated that only he and Peter Safran are aware of the future of the DCU and information on the new contracts regarding their talents.
“I’m not sure if you’re purposely lying or being taken advantage of by someone lying to you, but, as I’ve stated on here before, NO ONE knows what’s happening at DC Studios right now other than me & Peter. That would include writing up any new contracts for anyone at this point,” he wrote in response to the report. Despite all the rumors that we’ve been hearing about Cavill’s next step in the DCU, this is a reminder that we should take them all with a grain of salt since the duo has not finalized their long-term plans for the franchise and they are only expected to unveil them in the next two months. For now, all we can do is wait and be patient for the duo’s announcement on how they are going to handle the future of the DCU and Cavill’s next step as Superman. At the very least, we have assurance from the actor himself that he is indeed back on the cape.
