On Twitter, the hashtag #GOJO1KPARTY trended recently as fans celebrated the milestone. While this might fly over anime-only fans’ heads, this is a reference to a major event in the manga. Spoiler Warning: There are major spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga in this article, specifically the Shibuya Incident Arc.
What Happened to Satoru Gojo?
In case you need a refresher, the events of the Shibuya Incident Arc were a major turning point in the manga as it finally saw Pseudo-Geto and Mahito’s faction make their move against Satoru Gojo and the Jujutsu sorcerers. As mentioned in the first season of the anime and in the manga, the goal of Geto and company is to seal Gojo. This is because their plans could not happen if Gojo was in the world given how incredibly powerful he is. It’s fair to say that Gojo is the most powerful person in the Jujutsu Kaisen world prior to the Shibuya Incident. This is thanks to him inheriting both the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique of the Gojo family. With these techniques, coupled with his mastery of the Reverse Cursed Technique, Gojo is almost unkillable as no attack can hurt him, nor can anyone contend with his incredibly powerful Domain Expansion. However, in the Shibuya Incident Arc’s events, Mahito and the other cursed spirits were able to seal Gojo within the Prison Realm, a special-grade cursed object in the shape of a box with eyes.
How Did Fans Celebrate 1000 Days Since Gojo Was Sealed?
The chapter when Gojo was sealed was released back in January 2020, and as fans noted yesterday, October 16 marked 1000 days since Gojo was sealed in the Prison Realm. Given that Gojo is a fan favorite, fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts after not seeing Gojo in the manga properly for well over two years. Despite still being sealed, fans of Gojo were in a celebratory mood, though perhaps ironically. Still, there are many who wish to see Gojo get out of the Prison Realm so that they can finally see the world’s strongest Jujutsu sorcerer again in action. However, fans will probably see Gojo get sealed again in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 as it is confirmed to cover the Shibuya Incident Arc.
