Specifically, this event will happen in Tokyo on Sunday, September 25, 2022. According to AnimeTV’s official Twitter account, the event will feature additional information about the anime’s highly anticipated second season.
While it wasn’t confirmed yet if the announcement will come with a release date, it’s possible that we’ll see one, especially as a mysterious website countdown was put up earlier this week alongside the new visual. In case you’re wondering what all the hype is about, Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime series by MAPPA that’s based on the manga of the same name by Gege Akutami. The ongoing manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump back in March 2018. Since its release, the manga has become one of Shonen Jump’s biggest recent hits with over 70 million copies in circulation. The franchise itself also proved popular enough to get a feature film release in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and it became a big box office hit.
The series follows Yuji Itadori, an unusually strong high school student who accidentally unseals a rotten finger talisman as part of his school’s occult club. Through a turn of events, Yuji accidentally swallows the finger, making him the new host of a powerful curse named Ryomen Sukuna. In response, Jujutsu sorcerers decide to exorcise him as these sorcerers aim to protect people from curses. But he is saved by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School. Gojo proposes that he will train Yuji to become a Jujutsu sorcerer, with the aim of swallowing all of Sukuna’s fingers so that the powerful curse can be dealt with once and for all.
Right now, there’s no word yet on what exactly the announcement will be at the TOHO event. Though some fans have speculated online that the show’s staff will be revealed at the event. What we do know is that the event will be attended by voice actors Junya Enoki, Yuma Uchida, and Asami Seto. There are also those that are hoping for a trailer and a release date announcement, especially as the second season is set to adapt the Gojo’s Past and Shibuya Incident Arcs – two arcs that fans consider to be among the best.
