Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime series by MAPPA released in 2020 that’s based on the manga of the same name by Gege Akutami that is serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The manga is among Shonen Jump’s most popular ongoing series as it has reached a lifetime volume of sales of over 70 million. The series’ story follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who swallows a cursed finger and becomes the host of a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna. This results in him being marked for execution, but he is saved by Satoru Gojo, a professor at the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School. In exchange for the postponement of his death sentence, Yuji is to train as a Jujutsu Sorcerer under Gojo until he swallows all twenty cursed fingers. Given the manga and the TV anime’s popularity, the first movie in the franchise entitled Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was released which is based on the prequel manga of the same name. The movie went on to become a big box office hit, both in Japan and in the US. The anime’s second season is set to release sometime in 2023. While there’s no Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 release date info yet, we might get an announcement this September. The first trailer for the second season might also be revealed during the program.
