According to Forbes, Universal Pictures confirmed that Jurassic World Dominion has passed $1 billion at the global box office. As a result, each film in the Jurassic World trilogy is now a member of the billion-dollar club as the first one grossed $1.6 billion while Fallen Kingdom grossed $1.3 billion. In the franchise overall, Dominion became the fourth film to achieve it. With this milestone, Jurassic World Dominion is now the second film this year to cross the billion-dollar mark following Top Gun: Maverick, which reached the milestone several weeks ago and also continues to do very well at the box office in its ongoing theatrical run.
It is very impressive to hear that the film was able to achieve the milestone despite already being months in theaters and its availability on home video. It looks like a lot of people are still tuned in to see it in cinemas despite having the option to watch it in the comfort of their homes. There is also the fact that the film wasn’t received well by the critics and the change of the theatrical landscape as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which affected the overall box office compared to pre-pandemic. Despite the odds, the film was able to overcome them and reach this incredible milestone. The film’s logline reads: “Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.” Also Read: Jurassic World Director Addresses the Possibility of Doing an R-Rated Movie Jurassic World Dominion is available to watch in digital and on home video.
