According to manga insider Manga Mogura RE, Akasaka is going to publish a new manga in Weekly Young Jump magazine. The report was made via a Twitter post which revealed some details about the upcoming project. Specifically, the manga will be written by Akasaka, but the illustrator won’t be him. Instead, the illustrator will be an artist that will be searched via a contest. The Tweet did not mention a specific source, but it did feature an image of the Love is War Volume 26 cover, possibly indicating that the news was revealed in the manga’s latest volume. Currently, there’s no word from Weekly Young Jump or from Akasaka himself regarding the new project based on their online platforms. If confirmed, it will be a bit surprising to see Akasaka work on another project, especially considering how he is still working on two ongoing series. Though Kaguya-sama: Love is War is at least set to end sometime soon, giving the creator more time to work on the new project. While it’s not often that you see a mangaka work on more than one series at a time, especially weekly manga. Though Akasaka can do it as his most recent work, Oshi no Ko is illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari (the creator of Scum’s Wish). As illustration is handled by another artist, the workload should be much more manageable. Especially considering that his next project is said to feature another illustrator. In case you’re unfamiliar, Aka Akasaka is a manga artist that’s best known for Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Oshi no Ko, with both series being serialized in Weekly Young Jump. Beyond these works, Akasaka has created two other series: Sayonara Piano Sonata and Ib -instant bullet-.
