According to Variety, Sony has officially delayed both Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web, pushing the films’ release dates to late 2023 and early 2024. Kraven the Hunter, which was initially set to hit theaters on January 13, 2023, is taking Madame Web’s initial release date of October 6, 2023. In turn, the Dakota Johnson flick is now moving to February 16, 2024.
Kraven the Hunter will star Avengers: Age of Ultron actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular big-game hunter who regularly goes up against Spider-Man in the comic book as he tries to be better than the webslinger. It is still unclear whether Spider-Man himself will appear in the movie, there are speculations that the character will be referenced considering that Kraven is in his rogues gallery. The upcoming film will be the first time Kraven will be portrayed in a live-action feature and the movie is expected to be similar to how Venom made Eddie Brock an antihero.
Madame Web is another character with ties to Spider-Man. In the comic books, Cassandra Webb is a clairvoyant who can see within the “spider world” and connect to characters with similar abilities. Cassandra will be played by 50 Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson and the film will also star Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet. Kraven the Hunter will hit theaters on October 6, 2023. Madame Web is scheduled for release on February 16, 2024.
