Lookism’s release was supposedly on November 4 but it was postponed by Netflix without revealing the reason why but speculations surround the issue that it was because of the Itaewon tragedy. Now, Lookism lands a new release date on Netflix which will happen on December 8, 2022. Lookism is brought to Netflix by the same studio that brought DOTA: Dragon’s Blood and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Studio MIR, and during the TUDUM event, Netflix officially announced that the anime adaptation of the South Korean webtoon of Park Tae-joon. Lookism is a WebTOON comic written and illustrated by Park Tae-joon published by Daewon and Book through Naver Webtoon in South Korea, LINE manga in Japan, and Webtoon in the US. Lookism follows Park Hyung Seok, a high school student bullied because of being overweight, thus, he dreads his appearance. One day, Park Hyung Seok found out that he has the ability to “soul hop” into an attractive young man who is slimmer and taller, however, his ability has its limits.

Park Hyung Seok can only turn into being the attractive young, slim, and tall man during the day and he has to come back to his original body at night. During the day, he is model for a clothing line, an entertainment company trainee, and a social media influencer. But at night, Park Hyung Seok comes back to the harsh reality of who he really is, and this gives him a broader perspective on how people discriminate others just because of their physical appearance.
