Lycoris Recoil: What’s It All About?
Japan is kept in a constant state of peace, and citizens are able to go about their day without worry. But what they do not know is that their safety is actually thanks to a secret, government-sanctioned organization called DA (Direct Attack), whose young female agents called Lycoris stop the bad guys before they could do any harm. Chisato and Takina are a mismatched duo of highly skilled Lycoris working at Cafe LycoReco. The other staff members are the cafe’s manager, Mika, the hopeless romantic Mizuki, and the top hacker Kurumi. Aside from DA assignments and cafe orders, the staff at Cafe LycoReco also take on jobs that help improve the lives of their clients but DA wouldn’t care to do, like helping out at an ESL school or protecting women from their stalkers.
Lycoris Recoil Episode 6 Recap
Episode 6 was yet another great episode for Lycoris Recoil. We now know that the new villain’s name is Majima. He’d apparently started working with Roboto, who led him to the whereabouts of the now-slain Lycoris agents whose identities had been leaked. The Lycoris uniforms might have played a part in the blowing of agents’ covers as Kurumi pointed out, but the truth was that it was all a ploy by the Alan Institute’s Shinji Yoshimatsu. What he seemed to really want was to pit Majima and Chisato, both practically invincible, against each other. With Roboto’s assistance, he succeeded. The uniform wasn’t to be blamed after all. Judging by Majima’s reaction upon seeing Chisato’s owl pendant which is the Alan Institute’s insignia, it probably wouldn’t come off as a surprise if he turns out to be another person that the institute has helped before. Just what could his mission be if he really is another Alan Institute beneficiary? He definitely seems to have a thing for violence. As it turned out, the episode title, “Opposites attract,” could mean two ways: Chisato and Takina’s spontaneous living-together arrangement, and Chisato and Majima’s face-off. Episode 6 also casually let a few clues slip, like the existence of male equivalents to Lycoris agents called LilyBells. Fans also noticed the organizational chart on Robota’s screen, which showed a possible third type of secret agents to complete the “Three-Legged Crow,” along with the Lycoris and LilyBells. Finally, while Takina’s satisfying rock-paper-scissors win against Chisato at the end was a cute comic relief, especially with Takina’s victory dance, it also demonstrated another weakness of the supposedly untouchable Chisato. Before that, Majima was able to immediately guess Chisato’s weakness which was her eyes, and exploit it. If Kurumi found out Chisato was going to be the next target any later, and if Takina hadn’t followed her tracks right away, Majima would probably have succeeded in offing her. Who’s to say we won’t see any more of these dreaded Chisato-in-trouble moments in the next episodes? It didn’t feel cramped at all, but episode 6 was absolutely packed. Is anybody really ready for episode 7?
