Marvel announced the Thunderbolts film at Disney’s D23 Expo this weekend and confirmed that the project will star Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Sebastian Stan (James “Bucky” Barnes/The Winter Soldier) and Wyatt Russell (John Walker/U.S. Agent). They will be joined by Harbour’s Black Widow co-stars Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster) and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), as per Comicbook.com.

This is great news but not exactly a huge surprise considering that Natasha Romanoff had made sure Taskmaster would survive and be freed from the Red Room. In addition to that, it’s awesome to know that Ghost, who was first introduced in Ant-Man and The Wasp, has found a team who could use her talents. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the line-up was the addition of Bucky Barnes considering that he has already been de-programmed by the Dora Milaje in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. At this point, we have no idea what will happen in the movie but with a line-up like that, we can expect a lot of action. With that in mind, we can’t wait to see what the Thunderbolts will be up to in 2024. Thunderbolts will be directed by Jake Schreier who was also in attendance at D23 Expo. The film is set to begin production by the end of the year and will open in theaters on July 26, 2024.
