Oda revealed this plan along with other interesting bits of info during the recent joint interview between Oda and Detective Conan creator, Gosho Aoyama. The two-part interview was released first in Weekly Shonen Jump, with the second half being released in Weekly Shonen Sunday. As translated by WSJ_manga, a part of the interview has Oda mention to Aoyama that his personal goal is to end One Piece in 3 years. Of course, this doesn’t mean One Piece is officially ending in 2025 though. In the interview, Oda mentioned that the series is scheduled to end in 5 years given that the series’ final saga might become longer as it gets written. Whether it ends within Oda’s personal goal of 3 years or if it takes 5 years to do so, what we can say for sure is that Oda has the series’ ending completely planned. In Oda’s recent message to fans, he even promised fans that he aims for the final saga to be the highest peak of the series. Another interesting bit of information that was revealed in his recent interview is that the series will end when the “One Piece” is found. Ever since the start of the series, finding the “One Piece” has been Luffy’s goal, so it makes sense that finding it will bring the series to a close. This also disproves some fan theories of how finding it won’t be the end of the series. One Piece recently returned from its hiatus with the release of Chapter 1054. Right now, there’s no information yet on how many chapters remain before it ends.
