Seeing as Rogue One is the first Star Wars movie to stand out because of its different, darker theme and tone, it was no question it received the go signal to create its own prequel story, Andor.

In fact, even Rogue One and now Andor star Diego Luna said he was eager to join the Star Wars universe due to its compelling storyline:

While we may have missed the opportunity to have experienced the Imperial-Hunting Star Wars series, there are no official announcements yet as to whether this pitched idea will not be pushed forward. There’s still hope, since Andor is the prequel to Rogue One rather than the other way around. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves in the near future.

Andor Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney Plus. Meanwhile, Andor Season 2 has officially started filming, so we can expect it to arrive soon in 2024.
