Rush Hour is a hit action-comedy film headlined by Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. The first movie premiered in 1998 and rose as an unexpected smasher. It was immediately followed by two more wins, Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3. Now, almost 25 years after the success of the first film, we receive news that a fourth movie is on its way. Here is everything we know about Rush Hour 4.
Rush Hour 4 Release Date: When Will the Fourth Rush Hour Film Come Out?
There is still no confirmed date for when Rush Hour 4 will hit the theaters. The first Rush Hour movie came out on September 18, 1998, while Rush Hour 2 premiered on August 3, 2001. The franchise’s third movie came out on August 10, 2007. We know very little about the film as of now, but if the fourth film follows the same trend as the first three films of the franchise, we may see the movie come out sometime between late September to early August 2024 at the earliest.
When was Rush Hour 4 Announced?
The first time we heard confirmation of Rush Hour 4 happening was waaay back in 2017 when Jackie Chan appeared in the Power 106 The Ted Cruz show while promoting his movie The Foreigner. Chan said that they were working on a script and only needed Chris Tucker to jump on board. By 2018, Tucker had already announced his interest in working on the film, but there was no new information about the fourth movie until a year later when Tucker posted a photo on his Instagram account with Jackie Chan. The iconic duo was holding up four fingers, further teasing the fourth movie.
This was the last update about Rush Hour 4, up until December 2022, when Jackie Chan announced that they were already gearing towards actually making the film.
Rush Hour 4 Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Film?
So far, only the two main cast members are expected to return for Rush Hour 4. Jackie Chan may still return as Chief Inspector Lee, while Chris Tucker may return as Detective James Carter, completing the best-mismatched duo. We will be looking out in the future for any updates about the other actors joining the film.
Rush Hour 4 Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?
The first three Rush Hour movies were all directed by Brett Ratner, but chances are he won’t return for the fourth movie. In 2021, the director faced sexual harassment allegations from six women, including actress Olivia Munn. Ratner denied all allegations. After these serious matters came to light, Warner Brothers announced that it was cutting ties with Ratner and his production company, RatPac-Dune Entertainment.
