Speaking recently with The Hollywood Reporter at D23, Stan addressed his separation from Mackie in their upcoming MCU appearances. At first, the actor joked about the “freedom” that he’s having from not working with Mackie in his next MCU project and then he went on to share his actual thoughts about it. “All I can say, freedom tastes bright. Finally, I am free,” Stan joked before he went more serious, “No, I love him… It is weird, of course. That’s, you know, it’s a little bit like… what’s that, Stockholm syndrome or something? When you’re like, ‘I might not… you know…’ But anyway, it’s nice to at least always be close to each other.”
However, despite their separation in their upcoming MCU appearances, there is still a chance that they will team up again in the upcoming Avengers movies and their temporary break-up doesn’t necessarily stop them from appearing together again since it seems like they had a great time working in the past. We can also consider the possibility that Stan will show up for a cameo appearance in Captain America: New World Order since he’s always been a staple in the Captain America movies. Either way, we shouldn’t count out any possibilities of another team-up between the two beloved heroes in the future.
