It was just reported that Henry Cavill is leaving The Witcher and that Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth will be playing Geralt of Rivia in Season 4. Although Cavill and Hemsworth have both shared enthusiastic statements about the casting, people are not as happy about Geralt being recast.
It has not yet been revealed why Cavill has chosen to leave The Witcher after previously promising to commit to the show’s seven-season plan. However, fans who are not quite ready to get a new Geralt are claiming that it has something to do with Cavill being confirmed to return as the DCEU’s Man of Steel.
Interestingly, there are also claims that Cavill had been feuding with writers on how his character is being portrayed on the Netflix series. With that in mind, it is believed that the Justice League actor decided to leave due to creative differences.
For now, Cavill’s official statement simply confirms his departure and welcomes Hemsworth to the series. Still, we wouldn’t be surprised if a new DCEU project starring Cavill is announced soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story. Henry Cavill recently reprised his role as Superman in the mid-credits scene of Black Adam.
