Recently, @Sakuraholic_jp on Twitter shared an edited video of Yor in Episode 10, combined with scenes from Rebuild of Evangelion. Just describing it won’t do it justice: The video is edited well, with Yor throwing the dodgeball transitioning smoothly to the scene in the first Rebuild movie, where the sixth angel wreaks havoc. To put the cherry on top, the video ends with the scene of Anya waking up suddenly. This makes the whole video seem like Anya’s bad dream, making it a perfect fit for the anime. In case you’re unfamiliar, the first Rebuild of Evangelion movie (entitled Evangelion 1.0) was released back in 2007 and serves as the first of the four-part Neon Genesis Evangelion remake movie series. Unlike the next three films, Evangelion 1.0 is a mostly straightforward adaptation of the first episodes of the TV anime. The final foe in the movie is the sixth angel. Spy x Family is an anime series by Wit Studio and Cloverworks that’s based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuya Endo. The first half of the anime aired in the Spring 2022 season. The manga started serialization in Shonen Jump+ in March 2019, and it is one of Shonen Jump’s biggest recent hits. The series now has over 25 million copies in circulation for its nine volumes. The series follows Twilight, a Westalian spy tasked to get close to Donovan Desmond of the neighboring country of Ostania. This mission is key to preventing a war between the two powerful nations. To fulfill his mission, Twilight must get close to Donovan in the elite school where his son studies, as that is the only place where his secretive target appears. Thus, Twilight adopts the alias of Loid Forger, adopts the orphan Anya, and marries Yor Briar. But it turns out that Anya is a telepath, while Yor is secretly a professional assassin. As a telepath, only Anya is aware of their new fake family’s real identity. The second half of the anime will premiere in October.
