Ezra Miller has gone through several controversies in the previous years, from the 2020 incident when a video of the actor choking a woman to their March 2022 arrest in Hawaii. The latest controversy involved the alleged grooming of an underaged activist whose parents had filed a temporary order of protection against Miller. Amidst all of this, Warner Bros. has chosen to push through with the release of The Flash albeit with a new premiere date set for 2023.
The cancellation of Batgirl has once again reminded fans that The Flash is still getting released and people are criticizing Warner Bros. for choosing the latter over a project that, in their opinion, has more promise with a cast that is not as problematic as Ezra Miller.
Warner Bros. has released a statement regarding the cancellation.
“The decision to not release Batgirl reflects our leadership’s strategic shift as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max. Leslie Grace is an incredibly talented actor and this decision is not a reflection of her performance,” the statement reads. “We are incredibly grateful to the filmmakers of Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt and their respective casts and we hope to collaborate with everyone again in the near future.”
The Flash is scheduled for release on June 23, 2023.
