What is Inside Shigeo in Mob Psycho 100?
Inside Shigeo lies ???, a manifestation of Mob’s truest existence in Mob Psycho 100. It is a separate identity of Mob that frequently appears when his emotions get the best of him. Mob’s pent-up emotions rise whenever one of his family members is injured and ??? appears. It is believed that ??? started when Tsubomi left Shigeo. Mob suppressed his emotions and frustration because he had no one to turn to. It is also assumed to be the manifestation of Mob’s reluctance to use his psychic abilities following an incident in his childhood. In the anime, it is characterized by Mob’s eyes glowing completely and his hair flaring wildly. Think of it as Mob’s anime rage moment, where he finally gets to use his psychic abilities to destroy the enemy. ??? also appears whenever Mob passes out as a result of extreme stress. While Mob is strong, ??? exceeds the capabilities of the average Mob. It can absorb more energy and use Shigeo’s full range of abilities. From energy and matter absorption to technokinesis and mass exorcism in the midst of massive disasters, ??? is a formidable opponent. Unlike Mob, ??? despises all of his friends. However, ??? is known to harbor similar feelings for Tsubomi as well as affection for his brother, Ritsu.
Is ??? and Mob the Same Person in Mob Psycho 100?
As of this writing, ??? is believed to be the same person as Mob. Imagine ??? as Mob’s other personality. It resides within him and represents all of Mob’s emotions. Some fans noted that ??? is the true Shigeo Kageyama and not the other way around. After all, the basis of everyone’s personality lies in all our temperaments and emotions. After seeing Mob mostly as a background character, it’s arguably interesting. At the start of the series, Mob is a very antisocial character who doesn’t have any identifiable character traits. It is speculated that this is because of ??? inside of him. He hid his personality within him, which resulted in his present behavior in the series. Over time, Mob started to socialize. From meeting Reigen, joining the Body Improvement Club, and becoming friends with other people, ??? slowly rises in the series. This explains the sudden appearance of ??? whenever Mob is under extreme stress. Either way, Mob and ??? are just the same person. Unfortunately, Mob developed a split personality due to the unfortunate trauma he experienced in his childhood. This prevented him from showing the real Shigeo Kageyama that he should have shown throughout the series.
