First, let’s take a look at Bautista’s role in Glass Onion.
Who Does Dave Bautista Play on Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery?
Bautista is a 53-year-old WWE wrestler who got his break in acting by playing the role of Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy series. He has also been cast in several other movies like Spectre, Heist, Marauders, and Army of the Dead. In Glass Onion, Bautista plays the role of Duke Cody, who is a men’s rights activist and a Twitch streamer. He encourages his girlfriend, Whiskey (played by Madelyn Cline), to have an affair with Miles Bron (played by Edward Norton) so he can get his dream of being on Alpha News. Bautista actually did the role a lot of justice. The film’s director/creator Rian Johnson even agreed that Bautista is “lowkey the greatest wrestler-turned-actor ever.” Despite this, many can’t help but notice the odd wrinkles on the top of his head. After all, this seems to be the first time viewers got to see Dave Bautista’s head wrinkles.
Social Media Reactions to Dave Bautista’s Head Wrinkles
On social media, there are many different reactions to Bautista’s head wrinkles. Some of them include the following:
“I want to go to an IMAX, put on 3D glasses, and watch an hour of slow panning macro shots of the top of Dave Bautista’s head. Really get in there, each of those weird skull wrinkles emerging like a sprawling valley in an Attenborough documentary as the camera crests their ridges.”
“I never noticed how the wrinkles of Dave Bautista’s head look like his brain is on the outside before.”
“Just watched Glass Onion with my mom, whose main takeaway is Dave Bautista’s head.”
What Are the Wrinkles on Dave Bautista’s Head?
While Bautista has not publicly addressed or explained the wrinkles on his head, many couldn’t help but speculate what it is. One of the guesses that people had has to do with Bautista’s background as a wrestler. According to these Twitter users, there is an extremely graphic wrestling practice (called blading) that cuts the scalp with blades to cause more blood during matches.
In fact, the WWE fined Bautista in 2008 for using blades in his fight with Chris Jericho. Reports say this is part of what prompted him to leave wrestling a year later. Another theory shared by Men’s Health is that this is nothing more than ‘cutis vertices gyrata,’ which causes head wrinkles in men.
Again, these are merely speculations. Bautista has not revealed the reason behind these head wrinkles. But hopefully, it’s nothing serious.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is available to stream at Netflix.
