How Much Does the Chainsaw Man Anime Cover?
The last few episodes of Chainsaw Man Season 1 deal with the Katana Man arc – the first one to indicate just how dark the series can get. The arc right after that isn’t the most relevant to the overall events of the manga, but it’s a fan-favorite storyline and pretty important in Denji’s character development.
Where to Start Reading the Chainsaw Man Manga After the Anime
If you want to skip the manga material that has already been adapted but aren’t sure how much of Chainsaw Man the anime will cover, we recommend starting with Chapter 44, which marks the beginning of the Bomb Girl Arc. The arcs after that (starting with Chapter 53) are all key to the plotline that culminates with Chapter 97. After a long hiatus, Chainsaw Man is ongoing again, featuring new enemies for Chainsaw Man to fight. Even with all the new chapters, Chainsaw Man is still relatively short with less than 120 chapters as of the end of 2022. If you’re tired of shonen series that span hundreds of chapters with no visible ending on the horizon, starting Chainsaw Man as soon as possible means that you don’t have too much catching up to do. Of course, if you have time, we do recommend giving the manga a read from the start. With less than 120 chapters, this isn’t too much work and will give you an indication of creator Tatsuki Fujimoto’s distinct style, which isn’t always the easiest to translate on screen. What to Expect From the Chainsaw Man Manga
Although the anime doesn’t censor the most controversial moments, it’s still pretty tame compared to the manga, simply because it is currently covering the relatively more lighthearted parts of the story. In the first chapters of the manga, the characters are still learning how to be a squad and trust each other, occasionally with hilarious misunderstandings. The full depth of the bonds forged between some of the characters is only fully realized in later chapters. Moreover, the sinister elements that are teased in the early arcs, such as Makima’s powers, come to unfold in very sinister ways later on. If you do decide to venture into the manga starting from where the anime left off, expect a wild ride that might be more heart-wrenching than you thought.
