Slumberland is a Netflix film that is inspired by Winsor McCay’s comic strip first released in October 15, 1905. In the original comic strip, the story follows a little boy named Nemo who goes on adventures every night when he falls asleep with a half-man, half-beast horned creature named Flip. In the Netflix adaptation, Flip is played by Jason Momoa, who is most known for his portrayal of Aquaman and Duncan Idaho in Dune. The film version of Nemo is a young girl, played by Marlow Barkley, who lost her father and is living with her uncle. There are more characters in the film, including Humberly Gonzales as Graciela. The other characters are Sergio Osuna as Manager, Michael Blake as The Accountant, Cameron Nicholl as the Young Philip, and Ava Cheung as Ho-Sook. Luxton Handspiker as Matt, Katerina Taxia as Janice, and Owais Sheikh as Frank complete the line up. The official log line for the film reads:
There more interesting characters in the film called The Agent, but who are they?
Who are the agents in Slumberland?
In the Netflix adaptation of Slumberland, Tonya Cornelisse plays Agent Red, Weruche Opia plays Agent Green, Jamillah Ross plays Agent Orange, and Leslie Adlam plays Agent Brown. In the comic strip with the title ‘Little Nemo in slumberland. Ha! Ha! I see smugglers in the distance!’ by Winsor McCay, the agents are custom workers who stop Nemo, Flip, and Impy from entering New York after a trip on Mars. The trio then decide to fly up the Hudson River but somehow accidentally land on the Sing Sing Penitentiary. On an earlier animated film adaptation of the film, Nemo is contacted by the agents of King Morpheus, the ruler of Slumberland. He learns that he is destined to be the partner of King Morpheus’ daughter Camille and the future heir to the throne. When Flip encourages Nemo to explore the darker side of Slumberland called Nightmareland, the king and princess are trapped and its up to Nemo to free them! We still do not know what their parts will be in the film, but we have an idea who they are based on the plots of previous version of Slumberland. Whichever direction the story takes, we know it will be an exciting adventure!
