Will There Be Star Wars: Andor Season 2?
Fans, the force is with you because Star Wars: Andor Season 2 will happen as it has already been confirmed by showrunner Tony Gilroy during Disney+’s virtual TCA press day, as reported by Deadline, that Season 2 starts production in November 2022 which will also have 12 episodes. However, Gilroy also revealed that Star Wars: Andor will only have two seasons and nothing more since they planned it out for the final episodes of Star Wars: Andor Season 2 to have the first scenes of Rogue One. Gilroy said, “We really get to take the formative forging of Cassian Andor in the first 12 episodes and then we get to take that organism that we’ve built up and run it through the next four years in a really exciting narrative fashion.” In a separate interview with The Wrap, however, Tony Gilroy hinted that the fans would have to wait a little longer before Star Wars: Andor Season 2 comes out on Disney Plus, “I have two more years to go. We start shooting in November on Part 2.”

Gilroy explained further, “Our past pattern was two years, but I mean, I’ll be on … We’ll shoot from November to August. And then our post-production last time was about a year.” With the direction of Star Wars: Andor leading to Cassian having enough grudge to expose the Empire’s dark side, in the end, Star Wars: Andor Season 2 will revert back to where Cassian first appeared, in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and it goes on a full circle to where it all started for Diego Luna’s character. Teasing what Star Wars: Andor Season 2 will be about, Gilroy said to Rolling Stone, “I’m hoping what we’re gonna do in the second half will make the meal feel really satisfying. Because the first year is really about him becoming, and the last line of this tranche of 12 episodes will sum up where we’ve been trying to get to.” Gilroy added, “It’ll be very different. The next four years are not about becoming a revolutionary. They’re about learning to be a leader and how difficult it is to put the alliance together and what happens to people who are the original gangsters versus the establishment and a lot of different other issues.” Star Wars: Andor has been critically received by the audience as one of the best series in the narrative of the galaxy far, far away and it remains to be one of the top shows under the Star Wars franchise because of this. Diego Luna is expected to reprise his role as Cassian Andor in Star Wars: Andor Season 2 as the production is slated to start in November 2022. While it may take a few more years before it arrives, it will surely be something to look forward to in the future for Star Wars. All the episodes of Star Wars: Andor Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney Plus. Season 2 has no release date yet.
